Guwahati: Samajwadi Party Assam unit vice president Ratul Choudhury on Saturday said the closure of a six-year old disproportionate assets case against his party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav by the CBI was "victory of democracy."
Congratulating Mulayam Singh for being relieved from the case, Choudhury said "it was also a victory for the Samajwadi Party against Congress' alleged political revenge against Singh and his party."
The CBI yesterday closed the case citing lack of evidence.
"The CBI has closed the Preliminary Enquiry (PE) against Mulayam Singh Yadav and his family on account of grossly insufficient evidence," the agency said.
