Tezpur: The head of Department of Mass Communication and Journalism in Tezpur Central University has been suspended on the charge of molestation, university sources said on Monday.
Head of the Department, Prof CSHN Murthy was suspended by Vice-Chancellor MK Choudhury with effect from June one, they said.
A research scholar of the department had alleged that Murthy had molested her and submitted a complaint to the V-C on May 25. Later an inquiry was conducted by the Grievances Committee of the University.
The Grievance Committee submitted the report on May 31 wherein Prof Murthy was found guilty and accordingly, the Vice-Chancellor ordered his suspension.
Murthy is said to be absconding and the matter will be handled legally from now on, they said.
