Imphal: Two Assam Rifles personnel were killed and another was injured in an exchange of fire between two groups of para-military forces in Manipur's interior Chandel district bordering Myanmar.
Personnel of the 28th Assam Rifles and 9th Assam Rifles battalions, who were separately patrolling Lokchao on the Imphal-Moreh national highway 39 at around 9 pm last night, "mistook" each others for militants and opened firing, police said today.
The details of the incident were awaited, they added.
