Violence has erupted in Goalpara district following announcement of election to the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council with a school and two vehicles set ablaze in different places on Sunday, while an indefinite bandh has affected normal life.

Assam Election Commission hopeful of RHAC polls by mid-May

Assam State Election Commission today said if differences regarding delimitation of seats for Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council are resolved amicably then polls to the council could be conducted by the middle of May.
